ProfileUnfortunately though, Kanitkar had a checkered international career. The left-hander, who also bowled off-spin was pushed up and down the order, and that didn't help his cause. In fact, he amassed only one fifty in his ODI career and that came against Australia in Kochi in 1998. He played in a couple of Tests in Australia by the end of the millennium. However, he found Australia's pace attack too difficult to handle. Kanitkar was a prolific run-getter for Maharahstra and later on in his career, he captained Rajasthan to a couple of Ranji Trophy triumphs. Kanitkar retired from the game by the end of 2012-13 season with over 10,000 runs and 74 wickets in First-Class cricket. |
