Profile

Dhawal Kulkarni has been Mumbai Ranji team's star bowler for the last few years. He first came into focus in the 2005-06 Vijay Merchant Trophy playing for the Under-17 team He continued his good form at the Under-19 state games which earned him a spot in the India U-19 tour of Sri Lanka in 2007. Consistently fantastic performances in Sri Lanka earned him a place in the main Mumbai Ranji squad. In his first Ranji season, he bagged a whopping 42 wickets and was the tournament's most successful bowler.

Soon after, he earned a place in the Test squad or the tour of New Zealand in 2009. However, he did not play in any of those matches. Mumbai Indians then picked him in their team for the IPL and has been one of their most important players in last few years. In the 2012/2013 Ranji season, Kulkarni played a major role in Mumbai's campaign of winning their 40th Ranji title. He took 5 wickets in the semi-final against Services, followed by 9 wickets in the final against Saurashtra to set up Mumbai's win.

Although Kulkarni has earned high praise in the domestic circuit, he is yet to gain a foothold in the international level.

In the 2014 IPL auctions, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals after a decent show with Mumbai in the previous editions. He made his ODI debut in September 2014 against England. In his third ODI, he registered his career-best bowling figures of 4/34 against Sri Lanka.
